چکیده

We calculate the distribution of transverse energy, QΩ, radiated into an arbitrary interjet angular region, Ω, in high-pT two-jet events. We find a distribution that can be extrapolated smoothly to QΩ = ΛQCD, where it vanishes. This method provides a class of predictions on transverse energy radiated between jets, as a function of jet energy and rapidity, and of the choice of the region Ω in which the energy is measured.

Interjet Energy Flow/Event Shape Correlations

We identify a class of perturbatively computable measures of interjet energy flow, which can be associated with well-defined color flow at short distances. As an illustration, we calculate correlations between event shapes and the flow of energy, QΩ, into an interjet angular region, Ω, in high-pT twojet ee-annihilation events. Laplace transforms with respect to the event shapes suppress states ...

Accounting for coherence in interjet Et flow: a case study

Recently, interest has developed in the distribution of interjet energy flows, with for example the leading-log calculation of the highly non-trivial colour structure of primary emissions in 4-jet systems. Here we point out however that at leading-log level it is insufficient to consider only multiple primary emission from the underlying hard antenna — additionally, one must take into account t...

Resummations, Power Corrections and Interjet Radiation

Resummation in QCD provides insight into the evolution of final state jets from short to long distances, and of accompanying interjet radiation. Applications to event shapes, including the recently-proposed angularities, suggest experimental tests of the interrelations between weakand strong-coupling dynamics. Maintenance of Multiple Jets in a Baroclinic Flow

This article describes the generation and maintenance of persistent zonal jets in a two-layer quasigeostrophic, b-plane channel model, focusing on the transition from a one to a two jet state. For weak and moderate values of surface friction and supercriticality, the transition occurs abruptly as the width of the baroclinically unstable region of the initial flow is gradually increased. Across ...

Interjet Rapidity Gaps in Perturbative QCD

We discuss a formalism in which high-pT dijet rapidity gaps are identified by energy flow in the interjet region. When the gap energy, Qgap, is sufficiently large, the cross section may be computed from standard factorization theorems. For pT ≫ QT ≫ ΛQCD, this is a two-scale perturbative problem, in which we may resum logarithms of Qgap/pT . The cross section computed as a function of Qgap repr...
